Say ow!  April Adams has some pretty powerful legs.  That’s what training with Charles Dao from Icon Sports Performance gets you.  Though April goes home sore and vows not to come back after a beat down from Charles, she’s always chompin’ at the bit after she’s recovered.

These kicks take an extreme toll on your hip flexors and your mid section.  It’s amazing how much you use your abs and core to kick – especially the round house kicks.

Here, April’s doing a switch kick.

Foxy boxy April getting the blood pumping with multi-set combination punches and ducking. If you don’t like intensity, you won’t like doing this.  April seems to have no problem with boxing intensity.

Here Charles Dao of Icon Sports Performance show us two variations of advanced Bosu Ball push ups.  Here, April Adams does the push up with a twist of the Bosu ball.

And below Jim Adams does the push up with a plyometric thrust, brining the Bosu ball up to his chest before pushing again.  These are a blast!

Foxy boxy April does a clean and press on a Bosu ball with trainer Charles Dao of Icon Sports Performance. The Bosu ball makes you engage millions of stabilizing muscle fibers.  In oder to stabilize, your core must be engaged.  This gets much more difficult the more tired you are.

Here’s Jim Adams doing the same exercise.

Jim Adams is doing kettle bell swings.  This is a full body exercise that demands a lot of concentration.  If you don’t concentrate and you don’t have correct posture, you can really jack up your back and your shoulders.  On the other hand, if you do them correctly, you can build explosive power from your legs, through your trunk, all the way up through your shoulders and upper back.  This is a great exercise I do to increase my jump.

Below, Charles Dao, owner of Icon Sports Performance explains the kettle bell swing benefits.
